Sir.... I have already stated that I do not have the option of a lift gate. The only option available to me is to push the statue off said box truck which is about 4 feet off the grass. Fork lift driver will load statue onto said box truck, but I have no option of forklift at the destination it's going to. Again, my only option is to push it off into the grass and hope for the best. I merely opened this thread wondering if the statue would break if it hits the grass.
Either way, I will find out what happens today.
Well, good luck with that. I predict you'll learn something about physics.
How exactly do you expect to slide a 900 pound block of concrete out of the truck, anyway? You and which company of US Marines?
I would not do this, but it's your money to waste if you want to.
Let's play optimistic ONE. He manages to push it off the truck and it lands safely. Hopefully that is where it's final resting place is supposed to be according to the OP. Because if not:
Here is a sampling of future questions.
Can you move a 900 pound statue over pea gravel?
Can you move a 900 pound statue over grass and not dent the grass?
How do you repair a lawn after you have dragged a 900 pound statue across it?
How do you mount a 900 pound statue on a pad without the use of a forklift.?
A layer of grass is going to offer zero resistance to a 900 pound piece of concrete. It will be essentially the same as pushing it onto dirt. And is that dirt soft wet clay or hard packed? If the latter, it will almost surely break at several points. If the former, it will make a big indentation in the ground and probably still break.
You aren't going to "push" it anywhere. You might have to unstrap it, get the truck moving in reverse, then slam on the brakes.
