About that sliding glass door and bright light. I have found plants can burn being too close to windows. Also watch out what is behind the plants that can cause a reflection so that a plant can get cooked. I have a few I'm working on now trying to fix blinds as they let the sun in so that tall plants can be as happy as the shorter and newer ones.

(In my case, I have ONE window for natural light, so I don't have a lot of room in the kitchen window for my plants. A grow light helps.

Actually I bought an LED grow light setup this year and am planning to use it over the winter, to try to start some seeds on a folding table in the garage, with a heat mat underneath. (The garage is unheated) That's the only place that I have available to set anything up, and wouldn't be able to do that until after the holidays because the table will block access to things I need to use between now and then. There wouldn't be enough room for both the seed trays and sweet potato cuttings though.
