Hello guys,
I am very interested in date palm tree and I know a lot about it. Well i sowed a seed in 2011 and i succeeded to make it survive.
But in a pot only.
I live in Wake forest. Well I want to share with guys any information about date palm tree or figs or any other tree.
We can exchange telephone numbers and emails so we can communicate better.
Thank you.

Good luck with it, but I was not successful with a date palm here in coastal Georgia, 8b, so I really doubt you can grow one in NC, unless you keep it in a pot.

To pull it off it will need to be "supported" in perpetuity.
Plant it against a south facing wall.
When winter comes, heavily mulch the base. While still young, build an insulating shelter around it. If it survives and gets taller, you will need to use Christmas lights to keep it warm. And a lot of luck.
I love Date Palms too, but they are tough outside of Florida on the Eastern Seaboard. I think I have seen a few in Myrtle Beach. I knew of guy who pulled it off in Charleston, but that is a lot warmer than where you are.
Try a Pindo Palm. Tougher and it looks somewhat like a Date Palm.

They survive only a few years even here in the Florida panhandle. Eventually a freeze will get them, or they rot from the moisture.

I have a Pindo, which has been growing happily for 8 years in cold winters and warm winters in 8b.
