What do you go by the current, 24 hour average or 5 day average? Here is mine. The current is wrong being it has been in the upper 70's most of the day. It may be time for me to put my Weed Stop and my Scotts Winterguard down. This weekend it is forecast to get lows in the upper 50's.

Current Soil Temperature : 85°
24-Hour Average : 78.7°
5 Day Average : 78.2°

Soil temperatures are definitely going in the wrong direction for being early September.

Summer continues with temps in the next 10 days being well Above average.

When in doubt, a little earlier is better than a bit too late.

By the time the soil temp dips below 70’, you should already have it down.

It is starting to drop a little at a time. There is a big cold front coming in this weekend bring the lows down to the mid 50's for a few days. Then it warms back up again to the low to mid 60's. The temperature this morning is 60. I am looking to put everything down next week or so. I finally found some liquid Weed Stop for a section that our Yorkie goes out on. I don't put granules in that area being she wants to sniff and eat them.

I wanted to check our Winter soil temp, so here it is! Bare in mind that this location is just North of a wall of bamboo, so it’s shady all day.

Sorry, it's sideways...

The garden is really struggling, but there is hope in sight by the end of the week.

Unfortunately greencast doesn't cover Canada, but I'd say it's just under 32F. Soil was frozen over the Christmas weekend from the cold weather, but it was thawed prior to that, and beginning to thaw again now that temperatures are back above freezing. Can't exactly stick my soil thermometer in the soil when it's frozen but should be able to tomorrow - it should be fully thawed by then.
