I've generally been noting my list of xeriscape/native plants to buy. Last week I went a bit overboard recently and lost track. All the others I knew, but when I got home I realized I totally forgot what this plant was. It's more shrub than vine. I think it's supposed to get flowers and I think it's supposed to be shade tolerant. I'm pretty sure it's a Texas native.

I haven't planted it yet because I can't remember where to put it

Check with your local Garden Center, they should be able to identify it for you. It's too small of a picture for me to tell. It almost looks like a privet plant, but there are many plants wih foilage that look similiar. You local dealers should be your best bet. Or maybe someone from your area on CD here knows right off the bat.

Chaka,

Haven't got an answer for you; not familiar with Texas plants. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I have done the same thing more than once!

Can you take it to an extension agent ? He/she should know what it is, if it is a native.

Or maybe you can Google Texas shrubs and vines. That is what I do when trying to id our Arkansas plants.

Looks likes winter jasmine. Tried to find images for you. Here's one, though not the best.

Jasminum nudiflorum (Weeping Winter Jasmine): High Country Gardens

If so, it's not native, but is quite hardy and fairly drought tolerant.

It is. It's deciduous for me. It blooms in late February. Nice yellow blooms.
