My corn is growing GREAT -- the ears are forming and it looks like I'll have super crop. I'm checking every day for bugs and, so far so good, but I have noticed a ladybug on two of the plants. I know ladybugs take care of undesirable insects but will they damage my corn? I've left them on the plants and haven't knocked them off.

I've never heard of them being a problem. I think they are your best friend, eating all the bad guys.

I'd hook em up & see if I could get some babies.

LOL, well, one of them looked awfully chubby today. Maybe she's preggers, hahahahahaha!

Seriously, I have a lot of ladybugs around. I've seen them on my rosebushes and fruit trees, too. I think I can thank the little darlings for not having ANY pest problems with my veggie garden. Nothing has nibbled my lettuce, tomatoes, canteloupe or zucchini, surprisingly enough.

Usually, I plant marigolds around the veggie patch to thwart bugs but I got such a late start this year -- and the really hot weather hit us so early -- that I didn't have a chance. I'm glad the ladybugs seem to be doing the job!

They eat aphids. That's why you're finding them on your roses and corn. Leave them be. They only eat plants when they've killed all their prey.

That's good. Their nymphs eat more than they do.

Thanks, y'all! I've always loved ladybugs -- I think they're adorable. The ladybug facts link was really neat, nitram!
