My neighbor has this in his driveway. It is about 8ft high and has very unique leaves. I would love to have one put don't know what to ask for.

...the plant in question is called cup plant (Silphium prefoliatum)...a very hardy and common wildflower in the plains and mid western states..check local nurseries for plants...if they don't stock it,look for it online through sites which specialize in praire native plants..missouri natives is a good one in the area..

If you have trouble finding a nursery that carries them, try Home Depot. They usually tout that if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll special order it for you.

....as both a dedicated landscaper and horticulturist,..as well as an ex h.d. employee in their nursery..its rare that they can order uncommon items such as cup plant..but there are those rare places who will surprise you...if they can't,check missouri wildflowers( not missouri natives..that was my mistake..) they stock all sorts of good stuff thats native to the area...
....the fore mentioned species: melampodium paludosum is known as the bush zinnia...its also a great landscaping specimen...another,related plant you may want to look for is compass plant or silphium laciniatum..and has large fern like leaves..and the typical sunflower type blooms...often, in a natural praire, the two species will grow in the same area...
