Here in SE Pa we have had no hummers yet. I wonder why? We've had the feeders up about a month already. March was really warm but April was cool with some cold snaps so maybe that kept them south.

I just saw the first hummer of the season this morning. He was very active at the feeder.

Ours arrived on April 21. We've had such an unusually warm spring, I thought they might come sooner so I put the feeder up a few days earlier. Of course they've been snowed on twice now.

Calling Dr. Bombay! Calling Dr. Bombay emergency come right away!

Our outside cat knocked a hummer down from the feeder tonight! We got sterile gloves on, picked it up it is still breathing. Looks like left eye might be damaged a bit but we think he is just in shock. He's breathing better but not trying to move made him a bed of grass, leaves and rose petals. Put a couple of roses in the container and a pill bottle lid with juice in it. No blood seen.

Anyway we can get him to drink out of it???

Don't know what got into the cat that feeder has been off our porch her whole life she has never bothered it. Just this afternoon she was laying out under it watching them like she has for years. We are all so upset about this.

So sorry haven't been able to get online for long. Here's the update............

We put the ice cream bucket we had the nest & the hummer in out on top of the porch roof. DD took her screen out of her room upstairs to sit it out there she kept checking on him. The little fella flew back into her room, back outside, back into her room and lit on her fuzzy pillow on her bed. We did get him to drink from her finger tip where there was a dip in the latex glove she was wearing. They have tiny tongues! Then he perched on her finger & was looking her in the eye! We were trying to get pictures we have some but they are not fabulous.

She put him back out in the nest and came carrying it all down about 15 minutes later. I asked "what did he die?????". She said no mom he flew up in the tree beside the porch.

We had him a couple of hours I think after his wings dried off and he got his bearings back, wasn't in shock he was strong enough to fly. He even opened his left eye before he took off. We were all so happy. Thanks for asking.

We haven't seen them around the last few days. I say " Them" when maybe I only saw one male pretty often, maybe the same one. I planted tomatoes near the feeder and usually I see one buzzing around the backyard. Maybe he moved on north?

@ Jaxson - I am very happy to read that he/she survived!
That must have been so cool for your daughter to have it drink from her fingertip. Thanks for reporting back.
