E coli and bagged Cow Manure
I'm a new city slicker gardener and it was suggested to me to put down Cow Manure into the soil. (never thought we would actually pay money for that stuff) Ok. I've heard that being done a lot. But I got to thinking, isn't the source for e coli comes from Cow Manure? Is the bagged Cow Manure e coli free or sanitized or something?

Use composted manure.
And don't eat it.

Cow manure is generally known to be high in salt and weed content. If it hasn't been heated to kill the seeds I wouldn't use it.
Horse manure is known to be a tetnus carrier and has little or no value at all.

Rabbit poo is better. You don't have to compost it and you can use it immediately. Check your local penny saver or yellow sheet for someone who raises bunnies. They always have plenty of poo to supply.

E coli lives in the gut of birds and mammals. It already is in the soils. It is already in your gut. You would not be alive without a flourishing culture of bacteria in your intestines. Unless you are immune compromised, small amounts of bacteria don't do harm, and there is evidence that exposure is vital to immune system development.

Chicken poo is the next best thing after rabbit poo! I use to raise rabbits and chickens and we had a beautiful garden thanks to all that poo!

Chicken poo is excellent, high on nitrogen content. Bat Guano is your best natural fertilizer, though it's expensive.
