Cactus & succulents
I don't know what it is with cactus & succulents, but I just love having/ growing them. Does anyone have any idea of a good reasonable place to find them ?
Has anyone ever bought any over the internet, like in a catus garden supply type places ?
Thanks for your help.

I dont know about online buying, but I just want to share your
enthusiasm with them as well. I love growing them and have had
several types. I love them for there uniqueness and most
dont have alot of problems with bugs! Pest free! Have you
ever seen the kind called "baby toes"? They are cool looking!

I'm jealous of everybody here. Unless I leave Sweden, I'll never be able to experience growing and garden landscape designing with regard Cactus, Aloes & Agaves. Excellent Rock Garden plants for sure. I spent 24 years traveling the Southwestern United States collecting various specimens and placing them on my several acre property up in the San Jacinto Mountains above Palm Springs. It was really hard selling my property and moving back to the city just before moving here. Oh well, it's not forever

I have some cacti but I really love Christmas cacti and hoyas (which are succulents).
I've found two wonderful sources of cacti on the internet. I;ve been very pleased with the quality and fast shipping on both these sites:
Hirt's has its own website (below) but I've always bought from them through Amazon.com:
HI Hirts' Greenhouse and Flowers
This site has exquisite cacti:

Yeah the 'Sharkskin shoes' looks pretty good, but I like the ones that get big and spread out. We have the heat here where I live, but my only concern is my soil can get pretty wet when it rains alot. I do have Prickly Pear though which seems to thrive.

..Im pretty sure that as long as the soil drains well, they can handle the summer torrents there..Back here, they do just fine in our heavy clay and cool wet winters ( excluding the past 3..lol )..so im sure you'd have no trouble at all..And yes..the larger varieties are great, if you have the space to accomidate mature specimens..ive seen nice plants placed in some very bad spots..especially when blocking the view of a very busy intersection ..never a good location..lol

Yucca Do Nursery is a good online place. I bought some cacti and they all arrived fine. I think their toughness helps survive the mailing process as opossed to some other plants.
