I've bought too many crappy hoses over the years. I want one that doesn't leak or kink (I'm looking at you 'Neverkink') or get stiff. I've spent hours on Amazon looking at 4-5 star rated hoses, and then reading the reviews that say don't buy because they leak after a few months. I don't mind paying for one that will last, and a decent expandable hose would be nice (if such a thing even exists.
Anyone have a recommendation based on personal experience?
Those black, all rubber hoses are probably the best. Craftsman makes one. I also like the gray expandable, fabric covered hoses if they’ll take a normal nozzle. (Don’t get those weird accordion style.)I’ve gotten them at Lowe’s. I carry one in my truck for work, because other people have useless kinked ones, lol.
My husband bought a couple of the big shiny red hoses from Lowe’s, but they’re really heavy. So far, they haven’t kinked. They’re two years old by now.
I've owned many "non-kink" hoses in my life and have never had one that didn't kink. I think for a hose to be non-kink, it would have to be so stiff it wouldn't roll up. You'd have to drag the hose behind your car to get it home from the store.

I have tried several hoses and this is the best one yet.
This is the problem I was referring to. 4+ stars but reviews tell a different story. I'd like to take a chance on this one, but hesitant to pull the trigger. How long have you had yours? Any problems yet?
Round hoses are more prone to twist and kink....find those that are hexagon shape (such as this one)....they are used in the greenhouse where I work...for that reason.
I agree but have gone the opposite way. I had a black rubber (don't really know what it was made of) one, that lasted for ever, never cracked, kinked or leaked. I tried replacing it and never found one. I finally decided that I was trying to fight modern day times (read poorly and cheaply made) with my memories. I will add while great it also was very heavy and I had to let water drain off in the summer because it was too hot initially. So I now have taken to buying Snow Joe hoses and if they last a year they last a year, they are well made and light. I will say I will be on year 3 this year and so far I am pleased.
