Default Garden Pictures.

I am by no means an expert gardener but I am having some fun growing a few things we eat a lot of this season. I've made the mistake in the past of planting tomatoes in an area that did not receive full sunlight and they didn't do too well. The plants in the picture are Beefsteak Tomato plants that were three weeks old on Saturday and are already flowering.

This is now at 5 weeks. I'm amazed at how these things are growing like weeds and I don't know if you can see in the pictures but each plant now has around 14 or so flowers. I was told they were the last tomato to produce of all the varieties.

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing!

I too, am a beginner gardener and just started seedling the tomatoes. One question I have, from reading about planting, that they should be 1.5 ~ 2 feet apart. So my question is that, from your picture, do they have enough space to grow or do you plan to replant them later?

Thanks.

I have several varieties. The beefsteaks were the last to form fruit this year. My baby.

But the Burstyzns, they've been on the vine since late April.

Believe it or not the plants are over two foot apart and should be more like 3 foot apart. They will grow fine like they are but as you can see the leaves will touch and risk some kind of fungus growing because of it. No I will not replant them but I should have set them at 36 inches. I built the planter out of pressure treated 2X8 lumber and it is 5 ft across.

Thanks again. It's difficult to judge distance from photos. I plan to build a raised bed 4'X8' and was thinking to plant them 18" apart, but now I see I'll need at least 2' between them.

Mine are about 2' apart and have grown into each other. They support each other this way. Only issue I have is if there is a fungus, they all go down, all 31 plants.

Vey nice. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I have planted the tomato seeds about 8 days ago and till now there are no sprouts. I am kind of worried. I know this is late to plant the seeds but this is the only time we could plant our seeds.

Any idea why they are not growing yet? I have planted them about 1 and half inches deep in miracle grow soil. I water them regularly and make sure that the soil is moist all the time. I was under the impression that within 8 days i should see the sprouts...
Apparently I didnt research properly before I planted the seeds. They have to be under the soil 1/4 inch deep and i planted them good 1 and half inch deep. Is this the problem? If yes, are my seeds going to ever sprout or just going to die?

Please advise me...I would really appreciate your help.
