I have watermelons growing out of a pile of horse manure. It was an accident really because I dumped some scraps on top of it that had seeds in it. The vines are now trailing down the pile about two feet.
Im sure the weather in Minnesota is not hot enough,but they are starting to grow nicely. Hopefully,there is enough time to develop some good-sized melons.
My plants are growing nicely, but we are just not getting the heat (90 degrees plus) necessary to get many melons. But I am still having fun with it, and I will try again next year!
