Gardenias planted next to the foundation will usually need some sort of acidification treatment to counteract the concrete that is leaching into the soil. A few of the leaves look a bit chlorotic (yellow edges). If the gardenia doesn’t make it then possibly a rose bush instead?

My grandfather is known in his neighborhood for his gardenia bush. His secret......pickle juice. He takes the juiceleft over in the pickle jar and pours it at the base. Good luck.
