This is our first time as homeowners and having to do 100% of our landscaping on our own. We put up a chain-link fence around our property (couldn't really do anything else because of high winds here) and I want to edge the perimeter with mulch and I plan on planting various vines to grow over the fence. My question though, which is probably stupidly simple, is: how do I retain the mulch against the fence without it falling through? I obviously don't want the ugly fabric sticking up past the mulch, but I need a reasonably priced solution since the perimeter is almost 600ft in total.

how about maybe using a preasure treated board on edge. Attached to the fence by a length of wire in a couple places.

I use that plastic edging that is sold in rolls and bury it partailly in the gorund aginst the fence. It will not rot away like wood.

I hadn't thought about using the same plastic edging against the fence that I was using on the inside to keep the mulch contained around the fence. Thank you for that thought!
