I have had a corn plant for more than a year. It has done beautifully...until now. It has begun turning brown at the tips of the leaves. This brown then creeps up the leaf, which eventually dies. At first, I thought it might just be normal dropping of the lower leaf, but now some of the leaves that are doing this are not the lower ones. Any thoughts....I don't want to it to get out of hand. Thanks!
Sounds like it may be a buildup of minerals or maybe salt from softened water. Try using rainwater if you can, or bottled water. You also may want to repot it in fresh soil. When I worked at a nursery we just trimmed brown leaf tips on corn and other "ti" type plants to resemble the natural shape.
I guess I could try repotting it. Although, I have read that this may kill the plant. I have not been overwatering it. I am really careful about that. I trimmed the leaves, and we will see what happens, I guess.
