Just wanted to share with everyone that home depot is having a GREAT sale on a few gardening items this weekend (4 days only, starting today) I just came back and I got TWELEVE bags of black mulch (2 cu ft size) and EIGHT shrubs plus 4 fiskars gardening tools and I spent a grand total of $46.50. I'm new to all this gardening stuff but in my very inexperianced opinion it doesn't get much better than that!

PS--the mulch is $3.88 a bag but the black one has a special and is buy one get one free (limit of 20 bags)

Thank you. I bought an Alberta Spruce there yesterday and noticed in the ad today they are 1/2 price. Receipt will be going back tomorrow for a $30 refund! While I'm there I'll be picking up a weeping cherry.

If you specifically need mulch that's been dyed black, that's a good deal. But, generally speaking, mulch can be found very cheaply at landfills. (Sometimes there's disagreement about terminology - stuff that's called 'mulch' in HD may be called 'wood chips' at the landfill). At our local landfill, plain wood chips are $10 per cubic yard, self load. One cubic yard is approximately 5 standard trash cans.
