I never seem to have luck with these. I'm planting my garden soon. What are good places to buy seeds (not online).

I've had really great success with various nursery items at both Lowe's and Home Depot as well as local nurseries. I avoid plants from Target and WalMart as they have never done good for me.

Lowes is good. I bought some canna rhizomes at wally-world a couple weeks agon when I went to plant them they were all clearly dead (rotted).

I don't think that I've ever had a problem with them. I buy seed everywhere: WalMart, building center, supermarket, garden center. I'm pretty sure that any problems that I've had can be attributed to human failure. I have failed to nick, file, soak, stratify, provide enough heat or keep evenly moist. Some people seem to just throw seeds at the ground and they grow; I need to do everything right to get good results. Be sure to check the date on the seed packets.

I agree with Gerania. I buy seeds and plants from Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Ace and co-ops. My Wal-Mart seeds have done very, very well this year. Good luck!

I'm on the warpath with the Burpee seed packs. Bought some winter squash seeds and two packs didn't even make a quarter of a row, and I plant in hills 5' apart. OTOH, the 4/$1 pack of seeds from the dollar store had one pack make almost 1/2 a row.

Did you try the Co-op Harry? Since I have moved to Alabama I love the Co-ops and the old fashioned seed and feed stores. You do need to check the dates on the seeds though.

Chances are they all really come from the same place. There's a huge nursery near me that grows plants for WalMart, Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc...

I have no problem with their seeds or plants but I don't plant vegetables in this area because we have sooooo many ants and after I spray 3 tons of ant poison, why eat the peppers???? sigh.

Just look at the date to be sure.....good luck!

There is a new kind of Miracle Grow dirt with food in it.....I buy that and my spring flowers seem to grow into bigger bunches sooner! Maybe get some of that to help you along?????

Normally I get my seeds at Beasley's in Athens. They just didn't have the type of winter squash I wanted - not a big seller around here. I've got some winter squash that I stored from last season that is about 9 months old, and it makes up a significant portion of our diet, especially in the colder months. Freezer space is at a premium, so being able to store it in a cool room is a big plus.
