I have a big ant problem on my property in general, but this year they are nuts in my garden and I don't know if I can do anything about it since they are already apparently established there. I have some strawberries producing already and they are boring into them. They have created antholes all over where I planted my corn. I don't want to use poison, obviously--I asked family for advice and heard grits will kill them, but I've also read other places that this is an urban legend and it doesn't "expand and explode them" like people think. The last thing I want to do is feed them! I also heard cayenne pepper will keep them away, but I don't want to pepper my strawberries if I can help it. I guess I need something they will take away and will kill their colony. Does anyone know of an effective product or have any organic solutions?

Thanks so much!

The best ant poison I've ever used was a gel product, I think ortho made it. I haven't seen it lately but its similar to roach gels. Its killed black carpenter ants in our tree as well as little sugar ants in the foundation of the house.
