im haitian american and i have been mistakened for Trinidadian twice in my life, but for some reason for my whole life people always claim they would never think or guess im haitian lol.
some people are ignorant and think every black person in america were the descendants of the slaves brought to the americas.
Sure, black people from the African American and Caribbean and Latin American population are descended from slaves. But there are also more recent immigrants (such as Obama's dad) who are not.
I am Taiwanese American. My parents were born and raised in Taiwan. Nobody has ever guessed that though, because Taiwan isn't that well known. People who aren't that familiar with Asians guess every country until I have to tell them, but the most common guess is Filipino. I'm rather tan, even in winter, and have rather large eyes. One time an older Filipino woman sat down near me at a bench and said, "are you Filipino?" When I said no, she looked momentarily disappointed
I have since found out that people from Taiwan and the Phillippines share more DNA than people from Taiwan and China, the country that is always claiming us. Not surprising, since Taiwan was colonized by the Dutch and Portuguese.
You obviously haven't met many Egyptians or Moroccans. Just because a book or Web link says something about a group of people doesn't make it so. I personally know Egyptians and Moroccans who are as "black" as me or "blacker" than I am.

Very few. Those blacks are descendants of slaves. Most Maroccans are berbers-moorish.
I live in an area with a lot of Mexicans and I'm dark brown haired and dark brown eyed and tan REAL easy so I always get mistaken for Mexican/Hispanic. My Heritage is mostly English/Irish and possibly American Indian on my fathers mothers side and not a bit of Hispanic in me. I've also been asked if I had Italian in me (none that I could find.) I suspect that my Grandmother's Harvey side is Melungeon but I haven't found the link yet.
I identify as African American, and certainly I am, but half of my family is American Indian (Wampanoag Tribe) and some of them are white folks(most black people have white folks in their family anyway). I often get Mexican, here in S. Texas, usually I get mixed or stupid people who say mulatto(wth? That's like, from the 60's). One time I got Haitian (What?!@) You can check out my pic if you want.
You are a zambo mulato.
