My auntie (Dad's sister) was 99 when she passed in 2012....4 months short of her 100th. Dad was two days short of his 89th.

My paternal grandfather's sister..........was 102. She was born in the late 1880's. Always lived in Germany and still taught music until she was 96. She gave up all meat after WWI.. she did eat fish.....and boy could she pack away desserts loaded with whipped cream!

Going back through my paternal grandfather's family.........even in the 1700's.......they were living well into their 80's.

My step-great grandmother was 93 when she died in 2008. I have a cousin who is 95 years old and a great aunt who is 99 years old this year. One of my great great grandmothers was over 100 years old when she died, I just found that out. She was born in 1842 and died in 1950!! I had a great great great aunt who was one of the oldest people alive in our state. She died at 110.

Residinghere2007, that is indeed a lot of impressive longevity in your families.
The oldest relatives in my family have made it to their mid-90s but on the other hand quite a few died much earlier, so with mine it is all over the map.

If they made it past eighty, it's been pretty common for my female relatives to make it into their mid-nineties. The men haven't been quite so long-lived. Cardiovascular disease has tended to take them out in their seventies.

I can remember my great grandmother with her heavy German accent. She lived to be 99, the only great grandparent I got to meet.

Today, in my mind I remember her looking just like the Queen of England today. Stately, in a dress with curly white hair.

She would always send a $5 check on my birthday.
