Looking for HEIMES, from France, settled in Michigan (find, search, last name)

I am tracing family history and can't go back any further than a Peter Heimes (aka Peter Heimas). He was born around 1824 in France, m. Anna Marie (unknown last name). They had a son Charles in Detroit, MI around 1864. Anyone have any more info, I'd appreciate it...thanks!

I will check it out...not sure if that's the direct line I am looking for or not. HEIMES was spelled so many different ways before they came to the US.
I am visiting MI soon, so I may quiz all my relatives or check some local information.

THe spelling of the last name must've changed from when they lived in France...nothing before Peter Heimes that I can find. Anywhere.
