1940 Census

I was finally able to confirm my great grand mother's maiden name, woo hoo!
I suspected as much due to a single sister-in-law on the 1920 census but the handwriting is so atrocious her married name is the 2nd alternate spelling, I couldn't be sure.
My grandmother didn't like talking about her youth, she and her brothers were split up between family members soon after their father's death but I knew that her uncle/caretaker was a painter - Bingo...

I haven't looked at it yet. I figured the servers would be pretty busy when it was first released so I decided to wait until the initial rush was over.

The initial rush is over.

I only waited until they were done indexing the states I was interested in, and fortunately they got those done pretty quickly. I don't know where they are now, but as of early June there were only 18 states done. But you could always check.
