As a United States born Caucasian, with a limited number of black friends...I do not understand what black culture is.
Another poster on another forum expressed a worry that there is an effort to destroy African American culture...So if that effort is to be discontinued...What is black culture? What are those common characteristics, important to the identities of various African Americans?
Again, I'm a United States born Caucasian, and I see myself as having no racial culture...only what I percieve to be an American culture. However, United States' born Caucasians are the majority, so maybe this "American culture" is not encompassing of all of America at all...but instead is Caucasian culture. I don't know.
So...again, what is African American culture?
Please do not respond about what African American culture is, unless you are African American or have a genuine understanding of it. Actually...another topic that probably relates to this is...what is Caucasian culture?

Close Family Ties
Soul Food derived from native African cuisine and what was available on plantations to slaves i.e. greens, many vegetable dishes, pork (ham, ribs, chitterlings (once meant as just hog intestines and slop food for slaves, now a delicacy in the African American culture)
Very conservative values
Deeply religious
Love of music and dance (Also derived from native African traditions)
This is an overall snapshot of our culture, despite what some people may say, this is who we have been as a people for many, many years.
Befriend one of us, we're not all bad and see for yourself.
