Question Spanish-American War ancestors

I recently found out that two of my great-great-grandfathers served in the Spanish-American war.

One of them, Aaron (born 1874), was my paternal grandmother's maternal grandfather. When he went into war, he was married and his wife was pregnant with their first child (my aunt Willa, who was born late in 1898 and died four years before I was born). He traveled to various parts of Cuba during the war.

The other one, Owen (born 1877), was the father of my living great-grandmother Amelia. He was 21 when he served in the American army during the war. He fought in the Battle of San Juan Hill. Supposedly after the war was over he went back to the US and married my great-great-grandmother, who he was courting.

Any of you have ancestors who fought in the Spanish-American War?

My grandfather fought in the Philippines theater of that war after sailing out of San Francisco as part of the 43rd California Volunteers. He was wounded in the neck while traveling in a boat up a river. Sometime in the 1930s he retroactively received a purple heart, which I have, which was kind of unusual for someone serving before WWI. I also have his Spanish American War service medals.

I just found our CW veteran a year or so ago. Now you want me to research another war? J/k, glad you found that stuff.

The SPAM war is one lots of people forget about or don't even know about, so something to look into.
