We had one ancestor mentioned in writing just because they had to try and find his size which was big for the time. Wish I could find more on him.

I just found a Hessian. He was captured and converted to the cause, and went on to fight for his new country. His father in law fought for the US. Another so many times great grandfather was part of Washington's Life Brigade.

I bet some of our ancestors knew each other. My cousin has some object supposedly handed to the ancestor by George Washington for being such a good body guard. Oh, I know--it is a button off his coat. (But that could just be a tall story--maybe the ancestor just took a button off some dead general's coat.)

I had forgotten about the Hessians. Another major player was Lafayette and where I live a lot of things are named after him. The main street in this town is Lafayette St. He was quite influential in the Revolution according to a tv program I saw a while back.

My dad had a document from the RW pertaining to the first Masonic Lodge in America. Paul Revere was the Grand Master and the creator/printer of this document. Dad gave it away. I have the photo copy.

I have an ancestor who was a priest during the colonial war. So I don't think he actually fought for either side.
