thanks it's just my DH's family is sorta racist. I told them I'm aa. And they believed me I think but I've gotten comments like on my hair or other stuff that's why I was wondering if I could really pass for fully aa. I never thought I could but up until now really so yea..
I'm a bit confused. In another thread like this, you stated that you were of Mauritian and Trinidadian heritage...and predominantly of South Asian descent. There it seemed that you wanted to maintain your South Asian identity but here it seems different...
Anyway, AA is a culture/ethnic group. Is that your heritage and/or do you identify with the culture/ethnicity? If either or both is true, then claim it. But are you putting aside your heritage to fit in with your DH's family? Just wondering.

no I asked that question because I wondered if it was a truth or fib. Now I'm wondering how believeable my claim was... That's why I asked if I looked aa.
yea his parents have issues but we're good together never gave a care about our different heritage.
no if you do that I'm removing my photos. I thought genealogy had to do with guessing race like I refound this forum by another poster asking this so that's why I posted here sorry.
I am not asking about fashion or beauty. I'm not shallow or insecure. I'd be better of with it closed if I can't genuinely ask a question on racial appearance then I'm sorry.
No, not at all. Genealogy has to do with the study of our ancestors' histories.
Modern science tells us there actually is only one race of humans, not many, so you are actually just dealing with superficial characteristics, like skin color.

You can certainly ask it, and no offense meant, but I just don't think it belongs in the Genealogy forum. That's why I suggested Fashion and Beauty, since that is the forum that deals with visual appearance.
it's not skin tone. There's an obvious differentce between someone who's south asian and someone who's african. It's got to do with our histories specifically. A question like this was asked in this same section.
I'm closing this thread until the regular mod has the chance to look at it and decide if it's appropriately placed or not.
