Interesting, I got a hold of a book that we got at a family reunion years ago that I never really looked at but am discovering new things every day- I am also a direct descendent of William Clayton(Married to Prudence Lanckford) who was the acting governor of the Pennsylvania colony 1684-1685. There's a possibility that Richard Nixon is descendent from him but I don't believe it is confirmed. So that would mean I am a very distant cousin of former President Nixon. It is also said William is descended from Robert De Clayton who is apparently an ancestor of Princess Diana, Former President William Henry Harrison, and Winston Churchill. So I would also be distantly related to the future Kings of England.
Have you seen this? http://www.billputman.com/Clayton.pdf Looks like your ancestor moved from Normandy to the NW coast area of England ( near Blackpool), with William the Conqueror. I also have a branch of my family who moved to the same area of England this way.
My 13th and 15th (I think) great grandfathers are former US Presidents Zachary Taylor and James Madison. That makes me the 3rd most famous on my family tree
Richard Nixon is a 6th cousin 2-3x removed (ironically also 7th cousin 2x removed through the same shared ancestors a second time since he has double descent). Despite some horrible flaws in Richard Nixon he did have some very good things about him, he came from humble beginnings and really despised all the wealth in politics and he often went against his party to support poor supporting initiatives like health care reform.
Alandros, we might be distant cousins. I am related to Richard Nixon, too, in multiple ways. He's also a 7th or 8th cousin to me through the Price family who lived in Baltimore, Maryland, in the late 1700's. After the American Revolution, my Price relatives along with the Nixons and other families moved to Ohio together, where they continued to intermarry. A few branches of my distant Price cousins even moved with the Nixons to Elk Township in Vinton County, Ohio. (That's where Richard Nixon's father was born. He later moved to California around 1910.)
