I've run into a brick wall. I don't know that there is any more information online, but I hope I'm wrong.
I'm trying to pin down the Siau immigrant/progenitor of many branches of Siaus here in America. I made it as far back as this couple:
Francis Lewis Siau
born 1785 in Georgetown, South Carolina
died July 7, 1826
Elizabeth Addison Siau
born May 15, 1798 in South Carolina (city unknown)
died Oct 1, 1877 in South Carolina
The problem is figuring out who Francis' father is.
A lot of trees out there use a Lewis Siau that emmigrated from Languedoc in 1787 or so, but that just does not make sense. There is a "book" or register that exists on very old Georgetown families that references his father as being Louis Siau, but nothing more than that.
I can't presently travel to Georgetown. I did subscribe to ancestry and archives.com, but this isn't there. I have combed dozens of smaller gen sites, posted on rootsweb boards for input, searched for graves. I've read dozens of trees, looking for someone who may have turned something up.
So where else should I look? Does anyone care to try a little digging of their own?
There are various records on microfilm available from the Family History Library, including an index to The South Carolina Magazine for Ancestral Research.

Have you tried the library in that area. Most libraries have a genealogy librarian and most areas also have a genealogy assn.
