I'm seeking information on a great aunt, Anna Hartle (B Ohio 1884- D San Antonio 1962), who married Dr. Charles Hugo Petry (B 1868- D 1949 San Antonio) in 1915. Trying to find when and why she moved from Los Angeles to San Antonio some time between 1911 and 1915 and anything about Charles or Anna subsequently. The only affiliation I'm aware of from her obituary is "past secretary of the Alamo Heights Chapter No. 737 O.E.S."

Thanks!

Well, let's see. An obituary of 9 Jul 1915 n the San Antonio Light for his father, Irwin Petry says Charles was "of" San Antonio, and that Irwin had lived there for thirty-five years. There were several siblings, and they all lived there in San Antonio. So why he moved back would seem to be returning to where his whole family lived.

His obituary of 18 Jan 1949 (not 1951) in the San Antonio Light (which is available on Ancestry) says that he was born in New Braunels, and he'd lived in San Antonio for 33 years. Which would mean that it was in 1915 that he moved to San Antonio sometime before July, when his father died.

Ancestry has the San Antonio Light, and shows 37 hits for "Charles Petry" between 1915 and 1958. But he's not the only Charles Petry in San Antonio. There was at least one other who did die in 1951.

There are 91 hits for Anna Petry. But they don't have the paper the year she died.

If you have access to Ancestry (or you can go to the public library or a LDS family History Center and use their computers for free), you should take the time to look all the references up, and sort out the ones that apply to your Charles. If they were involved in fraternal organizations, there are probably mentions of them at meetings, on committees, etc., if you're looking for information on their lives.

Here's an idea that can help you, contact the particular chapter of The Order of Eastern Star that she was a past secretary of and they should have a lot of information about her or you can contact The Grand Secretary of The Grand Lodge of The State of Texas and they should be able to give you some information also, the Masonic orders keep very good records.
