Has anyone here been using the message boards at genealogy.com?
I had an acct there a few years back and would like to post and answer posts left for me.
Problem is I can't get a response for my old user name/password or open a new one. Keeps saying
They will email and they don't. Is it only for paid subscribers now? The message board-
GenForum used to be free.

Your problem may be that you are looking at Genealogy.com instead of GenForum.com. They are related but different and for different purposes. I frequently use GenForum and just now ran a test search and it is up, running, and free. So search for GenForum.com, see what happens and let us know.

I tried at genealogy.genforum.com which is where genforum.com
Took me and also genealogy.com.which has ancestry FTM at top. Message
Says login failed try again. I looked up a post I wrote and there
Is a customer#*****(then 4 numbers)

Part of problem is my username on the boards is 2 letters too long to fit
In username. Not sure about password. When I email, i get message I will
get my old info. I do have a new computer since 2004 so cookies may be a
Problem. I also tried to get a new acct and never heard back for that either

I can read the forums but cannot post

Sorry for bad format. Using my phone

Yesterday when I tested GenForum everything ran great but today it is painfully slow, and I have a very high speed ISP/system so I'm wondering if that is what you are running into.

I know other people have had log in problems too. So here's an update.

Sent email to support@genealogy.com and did receive response. They also changed my email as requested at the same time.

A while ago, I had tried to sign up at GenForum but never received a confirmation email, no matter how many times I tried. I remember googling it and could have sworn I saw something about how it had become read-only.

Correct.
See Frequently Asked Questions - Genealogy.com where it says:
"GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles remain available in a read-only format on Genealogy.com, meaning the pages are preserved to allow you to view, but not edit information" (italics mine)
