Hi everyone. Really want to do the DNA analysis - ethnicity testing. But the cynical part of me wonders if by filling out a long list of questions, you are essentally "telling" what you are, and the results are based upon your answers. It would be so deceptively easy to just dole out percentages based upon whatever someone wrote; with maybe a few wildcard unexpected percentages thrown in for excitement.

Thanks!!!! Please let me know.

There are lots of surveys, but more related to studies?? than your analysis of your ethnic results. It is all chromosome results.

the surveys are voluntary. They may be used in the demographics. it is possible they have some play in %s.

Anyway, I filled out the first survey and stopped.

I was more concerned about privacy myself

Hmm. I'm a stickler for privacy as well. What kinds of privacy type things do they ask??? Ahh, I reread, the surveys are voluntary. Are there any mandatory lists that must be completed?? Thanks!!

I don't remember anything in the test kit that I returned that I considered a privacy risk. It was just stuff they needed to set up their data base and be able contact me in the future. As stated above, all the surveys are strictly volunteer. I did some and chose to not do others. The ones I did came back with some interesting stats.

Never really thought about privacy until it was just mentioned. Do the questions focus on ethnicity at all???

The surveys are medical type questions. The info that goes in with the kit are not of ethnicity, only needed info for normal, future, contact.

Whether you have a history of certain medical conditions in your family. Common conditions listed. One of the options is "Don't Know."

I wondered the same thing. An afterthought was I should have waited to fill out some of the surveys until after I received my test results. But, I want to be a trusting person, so I'm going to assume my survey responses, in particularly those related to health, had nothing to do with the analysis I received.
