My mom wrote out one for me as far back as she knew, which was her great grand father. His line with land deeds wasn't difficult to uncover. She showed Dad's family back almost that far. And said there was the family histrory drawn from family bibles and records which may not exist anymore. Everything has checked out.
My great grandmother's story is still uncertain, but the family story IS backed by what was listed on the census, and I still want to solve that one.
So far, I think until later times my family were farmers and lived off their own farm and moved on a lot. I have serious doubt about any family crests I run across.
