If you receive all of your mitochondrial DNA from your mom, and the mitochondria provide energy to cells, then does that mean a mom with a low energy level will have the same kind of kids? Are certain mtDNA haplogroups associated with a higher energy level? I would love to know if there are any publications on this subject (just out of curiosity). In my case, Id say that me and my siblings are pretty similar in terms of energy level.

There so many variables to this, there are medical and mental health reasons why some people have low energy, that doesn't mean the kids will low or high energy just based on the mitochondrial DNA passing from the mother. Then you would have to believe that you inherit zero of your energy levels from your dad.

You may be referring as much to disposition as "energy" level. It has an extremely low level of heritability. It's an intangible and almost impossible to measure. At the DNA level I don't think it's even recorded as an identifiable trait.yet.
The other problem is that humans as athletes simply don't pay attention to genetic rules, compared to livestock.
Also, when you cross, which you must do if you're going to get a baby!! the book pretty much goes out the window unless there are strong traits in the family line that go back really deep. Think families known for fertility, ease of birthing, musical, sense of humor, large frame, etc. While frame is highly heritable, it's mostly downward in direction.
I'm not suggesting I'm an expert and stand to be corrected, but take a look at my photo albums if you have time.
If you can find this book, it's one of the best technical and easily read:
the Rough Guide to Genes and Cloning
Jess Buston & Jon Turney
genetically, they must come from a family with an incredible sense of humor!

Mitochondria are the energy machines at the cellular level. that has nothing to do with the "energy" you are thinking of, which has more to do with the ability of the entire body to do work.
