Different groups have different features. Darker skin, I think, tends to reflect the amount of exposure to the sun. Those closest to the equator seem to have a much darker skin tone.

Yes, I know this. But why aren't the West Africans as mixed as the Ethiopians?? That's my question that no one can seem to answer

Western africans are pretty similar genetically. Mainly E1b1a and E-M2
Ethiopians are E1b1b with a lot of J and with E-M329 Western africans have no J.
Neither group shares these differences.

It is not easy to get from west africa to east africa. And why should you want to go from a rich forrest habitat to a desert anyhow. But it is not hard to get from east africa to asia and beyond and back for that matter. There werent any groups for the west africans to mix with but plenty for the east africans.

Moderator cut: deleted if there were groups for the west africans to mix with then I'd probably have a straight nose, and wavy hair. ::sigh::

If middle eastern and European people are descended from east Africans, then it maybe that is the reason that middle eastern/European people resemble east Africans more than west Africans? Why do you think east Africans are "mixed"?

There is a cure for that. Have your nose straightened and shave your head.

Probably because of the shorter barrier between different peoples.

The West Africans had other Africans to their east and South. To the north their were/are Arabs, but the Sahara Desert is the most dangerous natural barrier between human populations besides the Himalayan mountains, so it didn't get crossed much for people to mingle.

East Africans on the other hand have and continue to have much trade and commerce with the Arabian peninsula. East Africans have been intermingling with these people for generations, hence their different appearance.

West Africa forms a peninsula to the west, bordering the Atlantic ocean south of most of the regular Mediterranean trade routes. It is easy to see how geography played a part in keeping those nations less interrupted. Historically the slave trade enabled a lot of forced mixture with Europeans, in the Cape Verde islands and along the coast.
All in all, there is no collection of features, be it skin color, hair texture , or nose shape, that is isolated to any single cultural group of humans. Most of us can only make conjectures based on our limited exposure to a few groups or what we observe in photos and entertainment, hardly a deductive survey of the groups in question.
