There is a large Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Church next door to my house...I see them gather in the parking lot- They are wearing traditional dress...I don't believe these people are a "mix" They are a large extended tribe with ancient roots...They look like white people with dark skin...Now the Somalians are not a mix either...They are a very inbred large extended familiar tribe...You can spot a Somalian every time...There facial structure is always very similar...They have a rounded high forehead - it is distinctive...ALL races originated as families - and families grew into tribes - and tribes became nations. Greeks look like Greeks...The French all share the same set of thin lips.....

Don't call Ethiopians eritrians and somalians "east Africans" because that also consist of Uganda Kenya zimbabue etc. they are people of the horn of Africa which is very close to the Arabian peninsula and Yemen. the Ethiopians/ eritrians and somalians are known for intermixing with the arabs especially the people of yemen a long time ago. they are 40% Caucasoid (caucasion) blood and 60% negroid (African) which explains their features being different from other africans

What an odd thread. Next we will be seeing threads called "Why aren't the Northern Europeans mixed like Greeks, Macedonians, and Albanians?"

I'm ethiopian and my mother told me that a long time ago ethiopia was invaded by europeans, mainly italians and greeks, and the men from those countries had children with the ethiopian women and basically created a whole new civilisation. Also, we are distinctly mixed with arabs because of how close we are to north africa/ middle east.

That was relatively recently, in the 20th century (the Italians under Mussolini invaded Ethiopia in the 1930s). The DNA evidence suggests people on the Horn of African had contacts with non-African people as early as 3,000 years ago, which would put it about 1,000 BC. That would not be surprising as the Nile River and the Red Sea would provide relatively easy access between the Horn of Africa and the Mediterranean, and there's only the narrow strait separating Africa from the Arabian peninsula in that area.

Somalians do not appear to be "mixed" They are super distinctive in facial structure. They look like one huge tribe or extended family.

I agree in that they do have distinctive features that distinguishes them from non-African people.

Well, it makes sense to me that the coastal bend of Africa would have been isolated from the trade and cultural/ethnic exchange that the North Africans would have been exposed to. To have any significant exchange between caucasoid peoples from the Near East or Europe, there would have to have been a good reason to cross the Saharan desert and the band of dense jungle across the meridian of the continent. Until more advanced seafaring, that was a very, very remote area.

You don't know what you're talking about. Have you ever been to West Africa? Ethiopians are as African as Nigerians/Ghanaians, the fact that they might look different, doesn't mean they are necessarily mixed. Not all Africans look like Ghanaians/Nigerians. The same could be said about Europe, not all Europeans look Italian. It's the mentality that sworn in slavery and other racialist institutions, that when a Black person has facial features that could be similar to non-Africans, "they are mixed", that's nonsense! How do people still buy that? [/quote]
