If you were personally tested, this information is from all your ancestors, not just your mother's. 23AndMe tests all the chromosomes. It gets maternal and paternal contributions. Testing mitichondrial DNA gives you deep ancestry on your mother's side, whether you are male or female. That is what your maternal haplogroup tells you. Separate testing of the Y DNA from a male relative can help identify male relatives with your father's surname and deep ancestry for that particular line. That is what a paternal haplogroup will tell you.
But the mixture you are seeing in this report is from
both of your parents, not just your mother.
If your nephew gets tested, you will want him to specifically have a Y DNA test. It is done with a different method from what 23AndMe uses.
