I'm a mestizo just like 60% of the Mexicans are. However, I always wondered, am I more on the European side or Indigenous side? Also if so, what indigenous tribe or what european admixture do I have? Do I have aztec, purepecha, do I have Spanish, French, Galician dna?? Also do I have other races or origins from africa or asia? I am interested to know this and would like to know if there is any place where I can give a blood, hair or urine sample to see this.

The best test for you would be 23andMe. All it uses is saliva. It will give you an accurate breakdown of how much Native American, European, African DNA you have. Sometimes it confuses Asian with Native American because the two are very close genetically.

But it does not break down the indigenous DNA by tribe, because the populations are very similar, and highly mixed among each other. So there is no "pure" Aztec or Purepecha DNA so to speak, because the populations are not pure to begin with. They do make an effort to separate certain European ethnic groups but the results may not be entirely accurate. There is no separate Galician category, it would be included in "Iberian."

This is a very new science, so even if you get ambiguous results now, they might be able to refine them in the future.

Thanks. Then in that case I would like to see how much Asian/Native American, European, and African DNA I have.

It is harder tracing ancestry if you're mixed. My girlfriend is a mixed Brazilian and a lot of her ancestors were slaves. It's hard because they often don't know their pre-Christian names.

Since my family has done both tests, I'm going to recommend the National Geographic's "Genographic Project" as the better one: https://genographic.nationalgeographic.com/about/ Since you are a male you will get a lot of information from this test.

But here's the link for 23andme: https://www.23andme.com/

You have to be aware, though, that neither company yet has enough sampling data to be extremely specific as to tribe or even most countries of origin.

I'm definitely more on the Indian side, I myself am a Mestizo. Though on my census papers I identify as not white and Native American, but rather Native American and Hispanic. I don't consider myself European in the least bit.

I too am also interested in taking a genetic test. Though I've heard they're rather imprecise and can be wrong at times! I saw a report on these tests, an African American girl did two tests, both came back as different African tribes! It could all just be a scam, you never know.

Sounds like you feel you have more in common(biologically)with Wayne Newton than Julio Iglesias.

You look "Mestizo". Your not European looking nor Native looking.

I got a DNA test from DNA tribes and it gives you more of a breakdown. My highest matches
Were Finnic, Mestizo, Polish, and Irish. I did the Native American panel which revieled 27% Athabaskan DNA.
Also a bunch of other native DNA in smaller numbers. Found the whole thing bizarre.
