Actually, AncestryDNA is just now rolling out new and much more detailed ethnic breakdowns. It hasn't rolled out for everyone yet, but it will be here soon. Here's a post on it:

AncestryDNA Ethnicity Update

And no, if you've already taken their test, you don't need to take it again. I don't have the update yet, but one of my cousins does, and it's pretty good.

Mac, the problem is that people in the British Isles are closely related enough that at this point they cannot be separated. There are not enough genes being tested that are uniquely Irish, uniquely Scottish, uniquely English, or uniquely Welsh.

People with African ancestry run into the same problem in trying to identify descent from a specific tribe.

I've only seen one of the charts with the new features (my cousin's), so I can't tell you into what detail they go in Africa, as he doesn't have any DNA from there, but they do break Europe down into specific countries, and they've broken Pacific Islander down to include Polynesia, which kind of indicates that they have other categories within Pacific Islander also (great news for our family!). Great Britain is still listed as Great Britain.

Sorry, Mac, the tests cannot tell you apart yet --- and I would love to be able to tell my (and my husband's) Irish, Scots, and English bits apart, too!
