No taboo if you want to date him. But, relationship wise, he is pretty much no more closely related to you than the guy living two doors to the right to you.

I do believe that would be a step-nephew (if there is such a word). No legal relationship, unless
you change that (marriage), which would be fine....hell, I've got an Aunt & Uncle that are 3rd blood
cousins...and yes, the children are smart and beautiful towheads.

FWIW, the Family Tree Maker app shows that relationship as "Grand-son of the Step-Uncle".

If there were a common ancestor by blood, then its "First Cousin, Once Removed"
