I can't find my original post about this family but I did have 'some' info and Cyanna...what ever happened to her???...came up with the names of my gr gr grandparents in Connecticut. So much appreciated but, for some reason, I wasn't able to expand much on it...till today!!
I researched Southbury, New Haven, CT and when I was done had also gone to Oxford and Southford. I found all the way back to my 6th (?) great grandfather born in 1616 in England! Found out a bunch of gr great grandmothers maiden names, parents and families, when they were born/died and where they are buried. I feel like I've hit the lottery! lol I have book marked everything I've found so far and have lots of recording to do when I get the time. This brick wall has been a big one in my research and I have a cousin in VA who will be glad to get all of this too. Now to find out when my Thomson family came to New England...
It's kind of weird that my gr gr grandparents were born in CT but gr gr granddad was born in MA and they ALL died and are buried back in CT. Must not have been in MA all that long. And both my gr gr granddad AND his father died at age 40 but 20 years apart..
Anyway...just letting you know that brick walls aren't totally frustrating. lol
I also have some ancestors that came from England, stayed briefly in "Massachusetts," then moved on to Connecticut. But in the early 1600s a lot of New England was called "Massachusetts" (Massachusetts Bay Colony and its components). And I think I read that a bunch of Massachusetts colonists went south a few miles and founded Connecticut colony.

Right! I was reading about that yesterday. Seems they had a hard time following directions too and ended up at the 'wrong' river. lol Mine did the opposite and went from CT to MA. I don't think they stayed in MA very long though because my gr grandfather was born there but records show that his family members died and were buried where they were from originally. Makes me wonder why they went to MA in the first place and why they went back. I need to find out if his sister was born in CT or MA as she was a few years older. OTOH when it comes to records my gr grandfather might have also been born in CT and someone else got it 'wrong'. You never know. I got my info from various census records for his birth place. Three different census records show my granddad being born in three different states so I know it happens.
Boy, you get a couple of questions answered and it brings up a slew of other questions! lol
Edit to say: I checked out that other thread and my gr gr grandparents didn't die/get buried in MA. I think I just "assumed" that. Definitely in CT.
