I have a niece that was born in 1950 i think in april to my sister nancy schlip tacoma wa. She was adopted to a doctor i think ,,we have never seen her my sister nancy has passed on , thank you sue earl
Was the baby given a name before the adoption. Who did the adoption, private or an agency? Did you find any paperwork among your sisters items that can give you some clues, like her birth certificate, picture. How do you know it was a Dr who adopted her. Was the baby born in Tacoma, WA , or the family who adopted her from there and the baby was born elsewhere.
DOB is needed. Anything else you can add would be helpful.
Washington has opened the birth records of adoptees.
Since you are not the birth parent, I believe you can not access it. Maybe the executor of your sister's estate could though. But somehow you can leave a letter with your contact info in the file for the adoptee. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will respond here with suggestions.
One thing you can do try is testing through ancestry dna. Your DNA might match up with someone who is searching for their biological family. More and more adoptees are searching in this way.
warmsearch.org is a way to hire a confidential intermediary who will open the court record and act as a go-between. I believe this costs about $500. But as a sibling of the birth mother you are alllowed to open the court record.
