Hello
My question is this...Did my brothers Dna, he came back as not a full brother, his father is unknown. A second-third cousin match leads to potential father, ok, now there is a third to fourth cousin match that doesn't match my moms side or 4 other relatives so this match must be on his father, I did mirror trees on both of these matches and went further then I needed too 300 people plus on both of these matches and I cannot find a link to each other, researcher that I paid to find out, said he knows there is a match there but cant find it either...any ideas?

Go look for earlier marriages for each ancestor in each generation. Sometimes there are untalked about first marriages with children.

Keep building the trees. I have over 3000 people in a tree and still find matches that I need to build there tree and mine farther to find the match. 300 is not a very big tree. A 4th cousin if it is direct line requires a 3rd great grandparent and all of their children, all of the children's children etc. If the 3rd great grandparent (Mine are early 1800's) have 11 children that lived (mine did), each of them had children let's say in the 1840's and 1850's they had only 6 children each, then they each had children etc... Just that one branch would have 66 people by the 1870's, the number by the 2000's will be huge. If the ancestor in common was not in the United States, you may not be able to find them, I am doing the same thing trying to find my husband's father's family. It is not easy.

If you have gone back to the 4th great grandparents, found all of their children, all of their children etc, you may have a match who does not have the correct birth info for someone due to an affair, rape, adoption etc. If they have several DNA matches connecting them to that tree and the other match has DNA matches connecting them to their tree, you are just missing someone in the tree.
