In a family tree I was looking at recently: Death. It apparently traces back to D'Aeth or something similar.

I have a friend named Death. We're all hoping that at least one of his children enters the medical profession. Or gets a PhD in any subject. Even a doctorate in economics would be cool if you could be Dr. Death.

Of course, the very best would be if one of them became a medical examiner. What prosecutor wouldn't love to call Dr. Death to the witness stand for some expert testimony?

That's a great name! When I lived in Buffalo, NY I enjoyed seeing Amigone Funeral Home and Bury Funeral Home there.

My maiden name. Boussneur

According to a link upthread, there are only 7 instances of the name. I know all 7 and are related. There is only one left that can carry on the last name. My nephew. My older, never married sister, and my nephew are the only ones alive that currently use that last name.

Bizarre.

Have you ever seen the movie or read the book "Lonesome Dove"? It is based on his life. Charlie Goodnight and his friend Oliver Loving started the Goodnight-Loving Cattle Trail in the 1860's. He also managed a 1.2 million acre cattle ranch in the Texas Panhandle.

When I was growing up, I would ask my grandmother questions about her side of the family. "A bunch of hillbillies..." she always said.

That sums it up nicely. There's no shame in my game.
Was the rural NC area the town of Wendell? Only there is a country road there by this name. And around here, I live near it, many streets are named for the farmers who owned the land at one time.
