A lot of of Coen's that came to the US but mostly from Ireland, Italy, Turkey. The few coming from Belgium I could find were french speaking, which are Walloons.

That will definitively confirm or refute any Jewish ancestry. If it refutes Jewish ancestry, then your Y-DNA Haplogroup will allow you to determine how and maybe even why your ancestors ended up in Flanders.

Your ancestors may have been among the Belgae tribe who "always" lived in the region, or they may have been among the invading Germanic tribes that came later. Or not. Your ancestors could have migrated to the Roman colony in what is now Belgium from somewhere in the Roman Empire, like Greece or Italy.

Your Y-DNA will tell the story.

So I did the test and my DNA test results are in. MyHeritage DNA results: North and West European 82,4 % and English 17,6 %.

So this includes also a certain percentage from central and eastern Europe , Denmark, Ireland, Spain , Italie. But 0,0% Jewish DNA , not even a little bit. This doesn't surprize me. Also it confirms actually my genealogy work. Also the English part. In Flanders we have quite some surnames that are actually derived from English names . Somewhere in the middle-ages people from the British isles must have moved to Belgium. There certainly was intensive commerce going on with wool for the sheet industry.

Just putting this up again. Just in case someone see this with the surname Coen or related to. Flemish or Dutch origine that is.
