The AncestryDNA beta update that was in the works (for which there were a couple loopholes to access) is now being rolled out to everyone. If you go to your DNA homepage and click on your ethnicity report, there should be an option to update it.

My reviews of the update:

Mine came, too. I'm now 74% English/Welsh/Northwestern European and 12% Scottish/Irish. Scandinavian at 22% is now 5% Swedish and 3% Norse. The remaining 6% is French (4%) and Germanic European (2%). This lines up much more closely with what I understand from paper research.

I saw my update, too. No more mysterious Iberian dna, less regions. 40% Scotch, 36% Norway, 24% England/Wales/Northwestern European.

Potomac River Valley Settlers - migration (except my ancestors never left!)

Here is my grandmother, who they completely messed up the first time:

England, Wales & Northwestern Europe 60%
Increased by 59%

Ireland and Scotland 23%
Increased by 4%

Sweden 9%
Refined from:
Scandinavia 31%

Germanic Europe 6%
Refined from:
Europe West 31%

Eastern Europe and Russia (new) 2%

Very interesting. Her mom's family were Scottish immigrants, her dad's family is entirely German, except the one "mystery ancestor" It is a bit surprising she scores so low in "Germanic Europe" since most of her German relatives were from Southern Germany, which I would think is outside the greater England region.

My mom.

England, Wales & Northwestern Europe 64%
Increased by 55%

Germanic Europe 17%
Refined from:
Europe West 75%

Ireland and Scotland 17%
Increased by 10%

France 2%
Refined from:
Europe West 75%

This makes some sense, my mom is most similar to British Isle populations in GEDmatch utilities, but her family tree is about 1/2 German. Many were early colonial immigrants so we don't know where in Germany they were from. Look at how radical the change from "Europe West" to "England etc." was.

My wife.

Italy 37%
Refined from:
Europe South 76%

Greece and the Balkans 36%
Refined from:
Europe South 76%

Turkey and the Caucasus 25%
Refined from:
Caucasus 11%

Middle East 1%
Decreased by 8%

Baltic States 1%
Refined from:
Europe East 3%

Hmmm..........I won't complain as loudly about this Greek being pegged as Italian because many of the MDLP and Eurogenes calculators agree that she is a close match to Southern Italy and Sicily. The Baltic is really weird..............she is dead cold there on the K36 heat map.

FIL

Italy 50%
Refined from:
Europe South 68%

Greece and the Balkans 39%
Refined from:
Europe South 68%

Turkey and the Caucasus 11%
Refined from:
Caucasus 11%

Flub. As mentioned in a previous thread......the guy has 8/8 great-grandparents born in Greece, and MyHeritage and GEDmatch calculators with sufficient Greek reference samples peg him as Greek with high %s or low Oracle figures.
