Just a heads up for those of us waiting for the new onslaught of matches to come in they're headed your way. My mother's results came in yesterday which means my father's isn't too far off. I've found a handful of my Swedish relatives with my mother's DNA that didn't pop up with results in mine. #nerdalert

If you had family members get a kit over the holidays what are you hoping to accomplish? For me its just a matter of trying to get further back in my tree and maybe meet a few new people.

I'm surprised it took as long as it did. I know people that sent it in after Christmas and already got it back. My uncles was sent in a few days after Thanksgiving; it took about 2 weeks for them to process it.

When I got my uncles I couldn't wait to look at matches then downloaded the raw data to upload to my heritage and FTDNA. I haven't uploaded it to GEDmatch Genesis yet but will be.

I got one for my nephew because I wanted to see if he'd show up on my matches. He did and shows as a 'first cousin'. I wanted to find out if my sister and I actually shared two parents. I don't think we did. Just the same mom. I was hoping to find new names related to the paternal side of the family but I still don't recognize any. The maternal side is easy. Some of my nephews matches are for his dad's family.

So, what I've found out is that out of six siblings I am related to two half sibs and not at all related to four of them. Bummer. Both of my half sibs are gone now so does that make me an 'only child'? lol I have no idea who my paternal family is and get NO clues from my matches except for one and she was adopted out so doesn't know a lot either. I guess it'll just remain a mystery to me.

One day there will be a match! Have you uploaded to any other sites? I have found relatives from my great--grandmother's second marriage and am eager to see if they respond to my messages
