With Omnitrace, keep in mind that you may pay that money and not get any results; most PI's work like that.

I sincerely thought that since I had his birth last name that the search would be easier, but it is not.

Have you tried websites that reunite adopted people?

Adoption Search & Reunion - Adoption Records, Registry, Birth Mother, Birth Father, Birthparents & A

Found these and others by googling "reunite adopted"

Maybe his mother doesn't want to be found (embarassing teenaged pregnancy - may be hard to hear, but she may have a husband who doesn't know about the child she gave up)

Also possible his mother is deceased.

Also possible his mother would like to be contacted, but doesn't know how to contact him. Try the above sites. Might lead to siblings who can help fill in some blanks, too.

I hired a PI, they told me my state now allows me to apply for my original birth certificate (it didn't before) I got the birth certificate, gave it to them, they found my mom and since then I've gone to family reunions and it's really great.
