There are the more common causes of death, like heart ailments, strokes, accidents.

I have found some weird ones. One guy committed suicide with Carbolic Acid. A baby died of Anencephaly. One guy eventually died (he had it a while) of lead poisoning. He went insane. Died at 76. He was a retired painter.

I don't want to come across as insensitive, or morbid, but what are some odd causes of death you have come across?
Funny as it sounds Carbolic acid was a rather common form of suicide in the early 20th century.

One interesting one was a young man who slipped while getting on a streetcar in St Louis and hit his head on the track! ouch.

There was also a soldier from WWII who was coming home on a train when it crashed.

Check out Missouri Digital Heritage : Death Records Certificates for more interesting ones.

When I was younger my parents told me about a
distant relative that shot her husband while he was
climbing through the window of the house.
Wish I knew more details.

I have heard of a guy that was shot by his wife. He was trying to catch her cheating, so he was sneaking around the house late at night waiting to catch her with her alleged lover. She mistakenly shot him instead.

If you talk to some who had relatives die years ago it was likely to be a guess by the doctor signing the death certificate.

A long ago distant cousin of mine, a gunslinger named Tom Nance, was killed outside a bar in Holbrooke, AZ by being kicked to death after annoying some of the locals.

My 3x great grandfather died of lockjaw, other than that, I dunno; but I'm pretty sure that a few of them died in battle, since at least one member of every generation has served in the military since the 1500's.

That's her story and she's sticking to it

A relative of my husband's was coming home from a party drunk and fell off his horse. He was 86 IIRC.
