Who Am I? (German, find, search, last name)

So my dad just got me a copy of a family geneology book I'd been interested in looking at for a while now. It was compiled by a fairly distant releative. It has a very in depth history dating all the way back to "Johannes Nicholas Schiehl" Born in Richweiler in the Palatinate Germany?? Rhineland area? Came to America on the ship loyal Judith in 1939. he was a sef in lichtenberg? and released that same year.


Last name startes as Schiehl ends with how we spell it sheely. This is crazy as now I am going to research all about richweiler germany area. Even though all this time I thought I was IRISH guess I was wrong. But i feel great to know I now have a hard copy of this book for my whole life and get to have this as a jump off point to my research

You are a very fortunate person, and be thankful that someone had the interest and initive to compile the book. You probably will find many more surprises as you dig into the family. I thought for years that I was German then found out I'm Celtic Welsh.

You are very lucky to have the book. I have found that writing down the 'stories' is helpful. Even through most have turned out not to be true, they did have a few bits of truth to them. Just not what I expected.
